Cashew Industry and Afrishew's Potential in the Market
Nigeria ranks as one the world’s leading cashew producer, a notable achievement. However, our current cashew yield stands at 600 kg/ha, which is only half of the global average of 1200 kg/ha. In 2022, Nigeria exported 330,000 tons of cashew, generating $252 million in revenue. To put this into perspective, during the same period, Cambodia exported 660,000 tons of cashew to Vietnam, resulting in a staggering $1 billion in revenue.
According to the Nigeria Export Promotion Council, if we were to produce at the global average level, Nigeria could potentially export cashew worth $500 million. At Afrishew, we see even greater export potential, estimated at a minimum of $750 million. Our belief is grounded in the understanding that the key to unlocking Nigeria’s cashew industry’s full potential lies not only in producing more but also in producing higher-quality cashew.
